Grand Paris Line 14, lot 4: TBM LAUNCH!

SWS France has attended to the launch of the TBM of the Line 14, Grand Paris Project. Our team has visited the site, in particular the shaft “Morangis” in which the TBM has been installed, along with the back-up trains following the head cutter and thrust structure, designed by SWS.
As tradition, at the end of the visit, the Saint Barbara statue has been lowered into the shaft as protection for who works underground.
The SWS Team will be directly involved on site to follow the excavation process.

Curiosity:
During the celebration of the tunnel excavation, a meal based on “gigot-bitume” has been organized. It is a French tradition: every time that a big infrastructure’s work starts, a lamb cooked in bitumen is offered to everyone involved in the project.
