SWS team is qualified as one of 4 groups to tender for E6 Kvænangsfjellet!
The road is in the North of Norway with severe weather conditions. The project consists of a total of 13 km of road among the norwegian mountains.
This includes two tunnels, with a combined total of approx. 5,6 km: Mettevoll Tunnelen (2,1 km) and Kvænangsfjell Tunnelen (3,5 km).
The client Nye Veier AS emphasizes the importance of the E6 Kvænangsfjellet project in order to ensure more predictable winter traffic over the mountain pass. The mountain pass between the municipalities of Nordreisa and Kvænangen in Troms and Finnmark county is often closed due to avalanche danger and strong winds that create drift snow. When the road is closed, the only detour via Finland is a detour of almost 70 km and eight hours of extra driving time. Last winter, the mountain pass was closed about 80 times.
SWS Engineering will bring its wide experience from similar jobs in order to gain success in this challenging project.
SWS Engineering will cooperate with AFRY Norway in order to support the Spanish-Norwegian contractors joint venture Comsa SAU – Bertelsen & Garpestad AS.
