SWS Engineering, as designer of Impresa Pizzarotti, has been selected by Statens Vegvesen (Norwegian Public Roads Administration) as one of the three qualified teams to participate in the design and built tender for the new E18 Vestkorridoren section Strand-Ramstadsletta, West of Oslo. In the design team we will cooperate with Olav Olsen, Rasmussen & Strand and MOE.
The E18 section in this contract is approx. 2 km long of which approx. 1.3 km is a double tube T13 tunnel (3 lanes each tunnel) and about 0.7 km in the day zone. The length of the rock tunnel is 1.2 km for westbound and 1.16 km for eastbound. The complexity of this project is also due to traffic management during construction (urban area) and challenging geological conditions (quick clay).
The announced contract has an estimated cost of around 194 million euro. It is expected that the contract will be signed with the contractor in January 2022.
