The Muskrat Falls hydroelectric plant will power homes and businesses across Newfoundland and Labrador (Canada) with clean, renewable energy for generations. Electricity generated by the 824-megawatt facility will meet the province’s growing energy requirement and be a valuable power-producing asset for more than 100 years.
The project also provides significant employment and business opportunities for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians during construction. Following the approval of the project by the provincial government in late 2012, procurement and employment benefits are already being realised across the province. Construction is underway.
Once the Muskrat Falls facility is in operation, Newfoundland and Labrador will also develop a strong export link to North America’s electricity grid.
