Oslo: work begins on the Follo Line

Oslo (Norway) – Work is beginning on the integrated EPC project (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) for the Follo railway line in Oslo, currently Norway’s largest infrastructure program. The project designer is SWS, general contractor to the “Condotte” company.

The Follo Line is a 22.5 km dual-track line commissioned by the Jernbaneverket, Norway’s national rail authority on behalf of the Ministry of Transport & Communication, and links the capital Oslo with the new station in the town of Ski. It will halve travel time between the two terminal stations. Of the total track length of 22.5 km, 20 km are underground and, once completed, will be the longest rail tunnel in Scandinavia. The construction of the new track in a densely urbanized area was an extremely challenging engineering project.
