SYSTRA SWS, together with Degree of Freedom, has been awarded the contract to design the new Kammen pedestrian and bicycle bridge in Åndalsnes. SYSTRA SWS will support Degree of Freedom with the geotechnical design of the bridge foundations.
The new pedestrian and bicycle bridge will cross Strandgata and Raumabanen and is planned at the former Kammen bridge at Åndalsnes in Møre og Romsdal as the old one was destroyed when hit by a tow truck. The bridge is located in two registered quick clay zones and the design shall ensure that a new bridge can be erected in accordance with NVE’s rules for construction in quick clay zones.
